Sunscreen: Chemical vs Mineral

As the sun starts to come out this time of year, we often get the question, “what’s the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreen?” Instead of a long, wordy explanation, we created a couple visuals to help explain. (Lots of visual learners over here! 😁)
The reason we care so much about sunscreen is that it’s estimated around 14,000 tons of sunscreen washes off swimmers into the ocean globally each year. That number doesn’t take into consideration fresh water activities. It’s a lot of product for both the earth and our skin to absorb, so we feel it’s important to how they work and what’s in them.
If you’re a deep diver who loves to know what exactly your products are made from, here’s a great link to the Environmental Working Group’s summary of sunscreen ingredients: ewg.org/sunscreen/report/the-trouble-with-sunscreen-chemicals
Hope this is helpful!
